The Role of a School Governor is paramount to the effective running of a school. The role is diverse, varied and interesting, giving the ability to directly influence all aspects of school life to ensure our children leave us with the best possible chance in the future.
What is involved?
The Full Governing body meets approximately 5 times a year. There are two separate committees, one to oversee Resources and Personnel within the School and a second to oversee School Development. As well as attending Full Governing body meetings, Governors are expected to sit on one of these two committees which meet 3 to 4 times a year. All the above meetings take place in the evenings at 6.30pm, usually on Mondays. We also encourage our Governors to visit the school regularly and be part of our school family. It can take up as much or as little time as you are able to give but it has been proven time and time again, that becoming a Governor can be a very positive and rewarding experience.
To find out more, please log onto https://www.hertfordshire.gov.... where you can find a step by step guide to what is involved. Please be aware that regulations require everyone elected or appointed to a governing body to undergo a pre-appointment check which may include a criminal background check. This is to ensure the safety of the pupils. If you are elected and you subsequently decline to undergo such a check, you will disqualify yourself.
